Al Bee | Electronic | After last year's RPM effort went in a more pop orientated direction after some of my experiments failed, this EP is much more off the wall musically. Blissfully imperfect in places, and in others downright amateurish, it certainly tries to push the boundaries of musical keys, musical rules and concepts of rhythm. Perhaps it is an unacceptable mess but it is definitely an attempt at abstract musical impressionism. | EP | South Molton | UK | LINK
Ali Kilpatrick | Guitar | RPM #19, another 7 tracks of post-rock (ish?)/ambient/weird experimental bits. Best on headphones. Is it getting dark, or just me? | Album | Edinburgh | UK | LINK
AlienXXX | Electronic | As usual, covers several and disjointed genres: Heavy Metal, Jazz, Electronica, Ambient... Very happy that this year it includes collabs with 3 other artists and my first attempt at integrating vocals into a track. As always, there were whole other worlds to explore... if we only had the time!... | Album | Slough | UK | LINK
Black Dragon Fighting Society | Dance | A house/garage track made in Feb. I was looking to make something danceable and vibey | Single | Bristol | UK | LINK
Bleepeater | Experimental | Inpspired by an auv3 DynaBit | EP | Dinas powys | UK | LINK
Block Theory | Synth | Unfortunately, I ran out of time this month, I was hoping to get some vocals on with Synth V but couldn't complete it on time so it's only an instrumental. I'll try again for the REM challenge! | Single | Southampton | UK | LINK
CakeFolder | Electronic | Single | UK | LINK
Cat Amongst The Pigeons | Experimental | This EP was supposed to be a lot more electronic in focus but it ended up featuring a lot more guitar and other stringed instruments and thus it rapidly moved in a much more experimental direction than I had anticipated. It is better to ride the wave than waste time swimming against the tide so I rolled up my musical sleeves and followed my ever expanding instinct. The songs combine elements of blues, folks, funk and rock, along with ethnic instruments and beats, and, a good dose of electronic hardware and software instruments, including my first attempt at playing the theremin. And I learnt to play the ukulele, kalimba and a pretty decent blues harp along the way too. Am not quite sure what I have created but it really was a riot. Over the last month I have learnt new skills and have truly grown as a musician. For this alone, I will always be proud of this music I have created and I hope that others may also take some pleasure in listening to it. | EP | North Devon | UK | LINK
Dante Alexander | Electronic | This album is an eclectic mix of dark electronic, electro house and complextro. It is super edgy! It is super me! I had so much fun making it! It is my first time ever putting my own voice into productions, and it is also the most ambitious project I have ever attempted thus far. | EP | Newcastle upon Tyne | UK | LINK
David Cooper Orton | Guitar | I have made an album of guitar music. Usually, I try to add other elements, but this year it's six strings and the truth, and thus feels special in that sense. It was made at home, using several different instruments, starting out as one guitar a day, recording what I did, and using pretty much first takes of everything, and spontaneously composed/improvised as I went along. | Album | Penarth | UK | LINK
David Thorley | Folk | There's no one overarching concept, but there are a few loose overlapping themes: water; family; the future... It starts in one vein and then drifts into another, settling into something more typical of me. It has its defects (inevitably) but overall I'm pleased with it and, as always, had a great time putting it together. Congrats to everyone who completed something this February. | Album | London | UK | LINK
Druid's Dog | Punk | This album was made using Cakewalk. It has an eclectic collection of songs and is dedicated to two friends who are no longer with us. | Album | UK | LINK
Exit Chamber | Ambient | Made as a late valentines present for my wife. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say I probably wouldn't be here today without her. | EP | Bonnyrigg | UK | LINK
ieatpants | Experimental | mostly instruments. one spoken word bit. made late at night. avoiding life. there were lots of noises recorded. these are the most interesting tidbits. | EP | Frome | UK | LINK
Legacy Systems | Experimental | Experimental electronica made using Eurorack modules and feedback synthesis | EP | Alcester | UK | LINK
Lost Principal | Indie | I've been procrastinating over my band's latest album for a while now, and needed to give myself a kick to get going again so the RPM Challenge felt like a decent place to start. It's my 12th time completing since 2008, though previously I've always done full albums. Sadly work commitments meant I could only achieve an EP this time. It's great to be back in the saddle though | EP | King's Lynn | UK | LINK
Mac McIntyre | Indie | I struggled... that's about all I'm going to say... but I produced something! | Single | Bath | UK | LINK
Nate Monoxide | Pop | Welcome to Veilside is an 85 minute long mega-song, which can be broken into 26 smaller songs. Exploring the mysterious town of Veilside, where you'll find a whispering waterfall, a skinless dog, an ultraviolent sports team, a psychic who harvests organs, and most terrifying of all... a rail replacement bus service. | Album | Whitehaven | UK | LINK
Natohk | Experimental | Album | Black Fen | UK | LINK
Neil McDougall | Rock | A hard rock revisitation of my old songs, with a 2025 lick of paint | EP | Stewarton | UK | LINK
Nigel Moss | Experimental | I decided to go around the cycle of fifths, one for each track, but hopping between the minor and major sides of the circle with each step | Album | Buxton | UK | LINK
Oliver Hagen | Folk | These songs are all about or are inspired by D&D campaigns I've played in with my friends. They've been a great source of laughter over the years and after a recent shocking PC death, it felt right to attempt to commemorate all of the ups and downs. I initially planned on using only real instruments, and definitely leaned in that direction for the majority of the tracks, but MIDI is just too convenient. I did however manage to track some bass guitar and some accordion, which are both newish instruments for me. I think they came out decently, considering the deadlines involved. | EP | Reading | UK | LINK
richaux | Synth | It's a short track, appropriate for listening party! You'll hear synths & samples; Japanese violin & djembe; vocal synth gymnastics. The album is eclectic -- not sure what happened there. | Album | Brentwood | UK | LINK
Safest Outbound Sparrows | Experimental | This EP is a taster for a full length album I'm currently demoing, and it represents the two ends of my journey as a musician. I started with violin (and later viola) and playing in small string ensembles, then it was guitar music, and more recently I've been exploring the weirder end of things with my Safest Outbound Sparrows project. This EP is me trying to smash all (or most) of that together into something that doesn't sound like a complete mess! | EP | Chester | UK | LINK
Screamutter | Rock | This is Gordon Brown's Resignation speech. We picked this one as the first track because huxSLAY wanted to do it and our screamer is currently unavailable | Single | Swindon | UK | LINK
Shuttermouth | Punk | This was inspired by a recent trip to Yo Sushi in Bristol. We were watching some other customers who were clearly unfamiliar and so we imagined ourselves in their position. Sushi Riot! | Single | UK | LINK
TA Walker | Rock | My original plan was for a 6-track EP, with electric guitars to the fore (I haven’t done this with non-instrumental works of mine for some years). Because “Events”… I eventually “only” managed a 3-track “single”, but I think these tracks are good enough not to hide 😎 The title track is the first time I’ve recorded with my new 12-string electric… and it won’t be the last! | Single | UK | LINK
Thetworegs | Singer-Songwriter | I wrote and recorded it during the first week of February. It took 6 days to write and recorded. | Album | Sheffield | UK | LINK
Unthank | Experimental | This is an EP, not entirely finished, celebrating the work of David Lynch. Each track is inspired by a different piece of his work and several feature words written by my wife who is working on her own project celebrating his work. | EP | Ayrshire | UK | LINK
Will Tonna | Dance | A labour of love for a time-gone-by, when mulitplayer was split-screen and controllers were wired. Produced on the Digitakt 2, mixed and mastered in Reaper. | EP | Leicester | UK | LINK |
