$ense | Rock | #17 for us. Only 2 are political. All are musical! | EP | Portsmouth, NH | Maine | USA | LINK |
69' Frankenstein | Spoken Word | This album is a narrative surf rock album, inspired by surf rock legends Deadbolt. Been wanting to make this for a long time with my friend who is a hilarious storyteller. I played all instrument andwrote the music. Taylor wrote the stories and narrated them. | EP | Hendersonville | North Carolina | USA | LINK |
A Relative Term | Pop | Matt (Lost Principal) plays bass, and Jarrett Osborn plays drums on A Step Behind, and Dan on bass for Don't Let Her Down | EP | Buffalo | New York | USA | LINK |
ABSTRXN | Pop | Like our previous albums, this one tells a story. We'll leave it up to the listener to interpret. Enjoy! 100% of all sales/streaming/merch proceeds (for this and ALL ABSTRXN music) will be donated to Humane Indiana, Northwest Indiana's premiere animal rescue: www.humaneindiana.org | Album | Chicago | Illinois | USA | LINK |
acoustic | Singer-Songwriter | Did the EP. Was a tougher RPM inspiration wise this time around. Glad I at least did this. | EP | Northfield | New Hampshire | USA | LINK |
Acoustic Angels-Frank & Jackie Gesek | Rock | 11 Track CD “Through the Lens” home studio with DP-11 | Album | Lebanon | New Hampshire | USA | LINK |
AcousticAngels-FrankandJackieGesek | Guitar | Original CD with 11 songs of views through a camera lens | Album | Lebanon | New Hampshire | USA | LINK |
acoustichewy | Indie | This marks my 20th consecutive RPM Challenge success! Somehow, I've managed to pull this off every year since the very first one in 2006. It's been quite an incredible 20 years, and I'm certainly glad to have a rich trail of RPM albums to mark the time. I've been looking forward to the double-decade year for a while now, and needless to say this wasn't exactly the album I was expecting for it. Then again, it never is. | Album | Eugene | Oregon | USA | LINK |
Adam Rubenstein | Indie | Scrambled in the last 48 hrs. | Single | Cincinnati | Ohio | USA | LINK |
agary bock | Guitar | Utilizing glitch and synth effects with guitar | Single | Buffalo | New York | USA | LINK |
Alex Matchneer | Synth | I made an eclectic collection of songs and compositions that has something for everyone. Interesting rhythms, simple and nice melodies, lots of dynamics. I made it by spending the first half of the month generating as many ideas as possible, and selecting the best of ideas and refining them for the second half of the month. It's special to me because it's the most amount of music I've ever composed in a short amount of time and yet contains some material that's better than other ideas I've spent months on. | Album | Brooklyn | New York | USA | LINK |
Alexander Lane | Electronic | Three songs for a live set at NYCR's Synth night meetup. Most of the songs are made on the Synthstrom Deluge, with some extra sounds from the 0-coast and OP-1. | EP | Brooklyn | New York | USA | LINK |
amelia | Jazz | I made a new year's resolution to make a new song each month with a Synthesizer V voicebank I hadn't used yet (of which there are several, I have a hoarding problem lol.) This song features Kasane Teto! I wanted to write something cute for Valentine's Day that wasn't a traditional love song. | Single | Fort Worth | Texas | USA | LINK |
Amelia Wilcox | Pop | An anodyne (noun) is something that soothes, calms, or comforts. My aim for this project was to illustrate a healing journey. Less about feeling better from some acute situation, but more largely about the dialog that takes place within yourself while teasing out themes and habits that might be holding you back. I was really inspired by the idea of getting to talk face to face with my younger self, so the whole EP sort of grew out of that seed. | EP | Burlington | Vermont | USA | LINK |
Amnos | Dark | Dark R&B, Trap Soul, and Chill inspired album. | Album | Tigard | Oregon | USA | LINK |
AMUC | Electronic | I had simulation theory and spaceships on the mind when I created this. The music is a mix of rigidly programmed electronica along with some improvised work (via knob-turning and crossbreeding audio files until something interesting happens). I did play a track in real-time on the keyboard as well - that was fun. The album title and art came from a strange dream I had. | Album | Worcester | Massachusetts | USA | LINK |
Andrew Histand | Experimental | Amplified distorted cello soundscape. My first work as a solo artist. | Single | Baltimore | Maryland | USA | LINK |
Angie Fights Crime | Pop | it all came together, i made exactly the album i wanted, and all my collaborators came through and crushed it | Album | Kansas City | Missouri | USA | LINK |
Anna Siriano | Pop | This is my first EP. Really, my first time seeing any song to the finish line. It was a wonderful way to process and exploring music creation. I think I owe a lot to Kathleen Hanna who inspired me to start singing and making music years ago, and now I've finally done it! Also, thanks to Merrill Garbus of tune-yards whose advice (from her School of Song course) to keep saying yes to myself got me through this. | EP | Columbus | Ohio | USA | LINK |
Anton Samford | Guitar | It was a fun record to make and I think it turned out good. | Album | Decatur | Georgia | USA | LINK |
Apollo Avatar | Electronic | Apollo Avatar's 2025 release Gateway was recorded live and mixed in February 2025. A journey through space, time and self | Album | Portland | Maine | USA | LINK |
Apraxia | Singer-Songwriter | I made a really short, acoustic, folk-pop song this year. It was lyrics first, which came to me early one morning. It's maybe the most positive thing I've made and it's catchy too. I'm really proud of it! | Single | Tampa | Florida | USA | LINK |
Astrosmash | Rock | We recorded 35 minutes of improvs in my basement, then I did a slight bit of production and overdubbing. It's raw sloppy heavy rock improv. | Album | Decatur | Georgia | USA | LINK |
Atlanta Trash Collective | Indie | This "record" is 25 unfinished snippets of sections of one long project track of 5. This one track is the only one I have had time to start to try to dissect and upload in time, but there's a ton more on the other 4 tracks! | Album | Atlanta | Georgia | USA | LINK |
BackspinZX | Soundtrack | A lot of the music here was influenced by my participation in an ongoing Lancer TTRPG game with my friends, and a fair number of these tracks soundtrack events in the story of that campaign. | Album | Huntington Station | New York | USA | LINK |
Beer For Your Father | Singer-Songwriter | I came up with this guitar part fairly quickly and then made the lyrics pretty loosely within the next day or so. I twiddled out the piano bit and made it sound cool by adding a lot of delay effects to it. I suppose the song is about how nothing is in this life is set in stone, but that also means nothing is inevitable, which is a good thing! I imagine it as being written for my daughter when she's old enough to understand. | Single | Iowa City | Iowa | USA | LINK |
Bertie Koller | Singer-Songwriter | I started recording the music for this album on 1 February with no idea where it was going to go. Got most of the music tracks down by the middle of the month, then one by one started writing and recording the lyrics. Finished recording on 20 February, and spent a few days listening and adjusting, then made the cover art on the 22nd/23rd. I feel like it came together pretty well. | Album | Whitefield | Maine | USA | LINK |
BETAQR | Electronic | Haven't yet mastered "mastering," so would like to improve on that in the future, but I am happy with it so far! | Single | burlington | Vermont | USA | LINK |
Beyond the Limes | Singer-Songwriter | These are acoustic songs or song ideas, mainly from the last few years, that I'd had kicking around in notepads. I thought this was a good year to flesh them out. Very singer-songwriter. | EP | Brooklyn | New York | USA | LINK |
biilborbillb | Metal | Black metal because we knew nothing about black metal | EP | San Francisco | California | USA | LINK |
bikeseathead | Indie | Joe and Ron put together a new track for another RPM! | Single | sunnyvale | California | USA | LINK |
bleakmospheric | Metal | Metal Techno. Made on Ableton live. | Single | Stamford | Connecticut | USA | LINK |
Blood Chimeras | Dark | First attempt at a new project. Our other band, Twin Goat, has been making studio-only music for over 20 years; we wanted to start something new that could be played live. Recorded fairly quickly during the last week and a half of February. | Single | Providence | Rhode Island | USA | LINK |
Blossom | Soundtrack | Album | Orchard Park | New York | USA | LINK
BogStomp | Singer-Songwriter | Inspired by the countless stories of buyers remorse form the 2024 US election. Written from the point of view of someone whose face was indeed eaten by a leopard. | Single | San Francisco | California | USA | LINK |
Bone Pond | Ambient | Recorded to cassette tape | EP | Buffalo | New York | USA | LINK |
Bosey Joe | Synth | I said “yes” to each musical impulse without upfront editorial thinking. It was really fun and freeing! | Album | Concord | New Hampshire | USA | LINK |
Brad Fielder | Blues | Topical, disjointed Blues and deconstructed folk structures | Album | Norman | Oklahoma | USA | LINK |
Brian J. Wood | Rock | I started doing the RPM challenge in the first year of its conception, 2006. The album that I produced was very minimalist, just two guitars and a vocal. This year, I decided as a 20th year RPM anniversary, I would re-record that first record using all of the things I had learnt over the past twenty years. I had help from a very dear friend on producing the album as well as guest vocals and a guitar solo. This is going to be my last RPM. | Album | Rochester | USA | LINK
Cantaloops | Synth | Without anything formally planned from the onset, I knew only that I wanted to create something that would give me goosebumps when listening back, since that is the reaction I have when I listen to some of the music by other artists that has the most impact on me personally. The result was more than I expected, and while I was shooting for an "album", I missed the criteria by one track and about a minute for total runtime. That said, the result is a mix of orchestral and synthesized elements which makes for an interesting journey start to finish and what I would consider very experimental when compared to my more traditional style of songwriting. | EP | Thomaston | Connecticut | USA | LINK |
Centrale Electrique | Soundtrack | It's an array of assorted piano/synth/guitar riffs, strung together with some melodies and noises, all instrumental. Maybe more melancholy and less rock than other years. | Album | Pittsburgh | Pennsylvania | USA | LINK |
Challenged | Metal | It's mostly about life | EP | South Burlington | Vermont | USA | LINK |
Chas Got the Spins | Pop | This is the final project using equipment in my studio that I've had for 3 years. This is me wringing the last creative beats and sounds from my current arsenal before releasing music in 2026 that will feature new synths and an entirely different sound. I made Bay Life specifically to mark the end of a musical and creative era for Chas Got the Spins. | EP | Seattle | Washington | USA | LINK |
Chris Anderson | Singer-Songwriter | In what has now become a tradition, I took a dive into 2021's 283-song "Music Box" project, and came out with eleven more bangers. That well gave birth to my last three RPM albums (The Solipsist, The Catalyst, and Goodbye Eden) and will likely fuel the next three as well. This also marks my 100th full-length solo release. I'm okay with this record bearing that distinction. | Album | Alexandria/Del Ray | Virginia | USA | LINK |
Chris Cooke | Electronic | "Hyperspace Glide" is my 19th RPM Challenge submission as a solo artist. Music is not the focus of my life right now, and I've been less than motivated these last couple of years. I was determined to participate, but not really feeling it, and also not wanting to do a half-ass thing just to say I'd done it. On Saturday, Feb 22 I put together an EDM track ("Hyperspace Glide") using Live Loops in Logic Pro, and had a good time doing it. I felt like I'd make something I'd listen to again, and I could justifiable submit it as a single. And then the magic. I listened to the track again a few times on Sunday. By Monday, I felt like making music again! I wanted "Hyperspace Glide" to be a full LP, just like in the good old days. So I put together a concept and worked out 5 more tracks for a total of 35 minutes of music over Monday and Tuesday evenings. Now it's Feb 26th and I'm submitting. "Hyperspace Glide" tells the tale of an intersteller cruise gone wrong. We start out by boarding in Starlight Terminal 17D ("Starlight Terminal 17D"),where we board our starship cruiser and accelerate toward light speed. We break through into hyperspace and enjoy the ambient vibe ("Hyperspace Glide"). But then something goes wrong with the drive system! With a series of alarming noises, we drop out of hyperspace and drift for a bit while the crew checks out the system. ("Fluxed Up"). The cruise company puts down for an unscheduled layover on a blissful alien beach and we party while robots fix the ship. ("Gravity Haven"). In the distance, we can see the robots at work, and wouldn't you know, some of them are partying, too! ("Patch & Play"). Finally, the ship is repaired and we resume our cruise through the cosmos ("Orbit & Out"). It was an experience of a lifetime! | Album | Laurel | Maryland | USA | LINK |
Church of England | Rock | Just a get together with some fellow RPMers and we recorded a song together. Mixed and produced it in Feb. 2025 | Single | Rochester | New Hampshire | USA | LINK |
cLEEnDirty | Experimental | Album | Austin | Texas | USA | LINK
Cloud Longing | Experimental | Single | Charleston | South Carolina | USA | LINK
Cole Stanfield | Experimental | 3 meditations and a song | Album | Austin | USA | LINK
Concepts Of A Band | Experimental | Zac Francis and Mike Allard were students at a school I taught at. We did an RPM with the track Ibby in 2008 as CATA Jam Club: More Than You Bargained For (Not In The Face!). Zac suggested a sequel. Ironically, I'd had lunch with Ibby a few weeks earlier. And here we are. | Album | Portsmouth | New Hampshire | USA | LINK |
Connemara | Indie | Album that sorta oscillates between hopefulness and hopelessness in response to recent political developments in my home country. | Album | Pittsburgh | Pennsylvania | USA | LINK |
Corporate Mind - Jeff Fineberg | Experimental | This was an experiment in total improvisation without regard to composition, with additional fun of shredding some of the works. | Album | Buffalo | New York | USA | LINK |
Coyote Senate | Ambient | A collection of ambient pieces, metal, drones, textures, and cinematic landscapes. The archetype of the hermit and the archetype of the moon in conversation, drawing close, and experiencing the spaces between words. | Album | Chicago | Illinois | USA | LINK |
Cruel Moon | Indie | A Collaborative songwriting effort | Album | Warwick | New York | USA | LINK |
Cybernetic Voyager | Experimental | I let my mind wander and my fingers play while thinking about exploring planets far beyond our solar system. Feeling, interacting with the lifeforms; trying to survive just one month. | Album | Goldvein | Virginia | USA | LINK |
dadii | Noise | I have little to nothing to say other than, I am very very tired | EP | raleigh | North Carolina | USA | LINK |
Dagger Complex | Synth | Temper is a sequel to a song I wrote for the RPM challenge in 2007. I did not finish then, and this is my first attempt at the RPM challenge now. | Single | Seattle | Washington | USA | LINK |
Dandy From Home | Singer-Songwriter | Dedicated to a little bee I watched die at work. Forever in my heart. I wish I had more time | Album | Northridge | California | USA | LINK |
Danger Painters | Rock | Yes, on Thursdays. | Album | Santa Monica | California | USA | LINK |
Dave Richardson | Folk | 10 new songs written over snowy days and nights, around busy moments, and through the chaos of the end-times. My 17th consecutive RPM Challenge. | Album | Windsor | Vermont | USA | LINK |
Dave Saigh | Indie | The latest single from Dave Saigh (say). This is a contemplation on taking a new step forward in a world of challenges and difficulties. “A New Breath” is a 2025 winter reflection on going forward through adversity. So take a listen and take “A New Breath”. | Single | Detroit | Michigan | USA | LINK |
Day 13 | Rock | Album | Dover | New Hampshire | USA | LINK
Death And The Poetess | Folk | We set out to share a 'dirge wave,' acoustic experience that may bring some rest to those feeling agitated in the current epoch. We were influenced by tarot, The Brothers Grimm, and poet Edward Lear. The album start to finish can be listened to as a lightly meant Hypnosis Induction/guided sleep talk-down experience, as well as a weirdeval, neofolk romp. | EP | Boston | Massachusetts | USA | LINK |
Distinct Kicking Motion | Metal | I set out to make an instrumental EP but I wasn't sure where to go... but then I remembered I own an 8-string guitar. | EP | Rochester | New York | USA | LINK |
Divortion | Guitar | Acoustic guitar with a DAW as a backing band. Still stuck in the 90s. | Single | Minneapolis | Minnesota | USA | LINK |
DJ Ghia | Electronic | I challenged myself with new gear. The album was primarily made with Ableton Push 2 and Ableton Live. The word Adwiwi is Abenaki meaning together in space and time. | Album | Jaffrey | New Hampshire | USA | LINK |
DJ_TMC | Spoken Word | Protest Song. Hope to inspire others that were lied to. | Single | Oregon | USA | LINK
Doll Butcher | Metal | Album | Nashua | New Hampshire | USA | LINK
Dweeb | Rock | Obsessive-compulsive disorder | EP | Swarthmore | Pennsylvania | USA | LINK |
Erin Yvette Haroldsen | Synth | Instrumental songs about journeys among the stars | Album | Idaho Falls | Idaho | USA | LINK |
Fae Wiedenhoeft | Electronic | This year was a tough one for me. With the world being the way it is, words were hard. Recorded with Garage Band on iPad. | Album | Seattle | USA | LINK
Fairchord & Fixer | Indie | The last couple years I've asked people on Instagram to vote on a fake genre for me to work with and this year's winning genre was "Gardenwave". Interpreting this was a blast and I ended up with a mash-up of folktronica, ethereal 80s pop, synthwave, 90s electronica and psychedelic elements. | Single | Minneapolis | Minnesota | USA | LINK |
Fares E | Traditional | Bit of a stylistic departure from me but had a lot of fun putting it together in a week. Its been a nice break from making my 2nd album which is all heavy metal | Single | Richmond | Virginia | USA | LINK |
Fenchy | Pop | I lost my one and only dog I've ever had in 2025, which was already a bad year in the US, at least. This is my feelings and thoughts put into music. | EP | San Diego | California | USA | LINK |
ficklebird | Indie | Spare room recording solo project, with acoustic and electric guitar, upright and electric bass. Surprise guest vocals by my son. | Single | Melrose | Massachusetts | USA | LINK |
Foolish Bastard | Rock | Incantation is a collection of guitar instrumentals born from seeds of melodies and phrases over the years. This set began forming late 2024, woven from quiet moments, refined over time, and shaped by instinct. This is my meditation, where music carries echoes of thoughts, memories, and feelings. | Album | Bellevue | Washington | USA | LINK |
frost finger | Rock | A stoner rock for fun collab from a few Portland buddies who otherwise do less heavy music- | EP | Portland | Maine | USA | LINK |
Future Thread | Electronic | I made this album when I was traveling a lot, giving me more inspiration from my long journeys. I found that I worked very hard on this album, and definitely say that It's my best yet, thanks to the help of my family and friends. Thank you. | Album | Manchester | New Hampshire | USA | LINK |
Fynn Cunningham | Ambient | This is my third submission to the RPM Challenge, this one's really just me experimenting more with songmaking. I don't really know what I'm doing, but I had a good time making it. | Album | Buckfield | Maine | USA | LINK |
Geo-Joe | Noise | Joey found an old Sony cassette player, recorded some piano samples, fucked them up, and looped them with reckless abandon. Georgia and Joey later improvised live Rhodes and drums against the chaos of the cassette samples in an effort to communicate how they have felt living in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s second inauguration. At the ninth hour, on Feb. 28th -- a day set aside for an economic blackout -- Joey purchased a Squire p-bass from Uhlik Music in Wichita, KS and recorded some last-minute bass guitar. While the bass was used and bought locally, it was made in Indonesia which presents its own variety of a moral conundrum. Album and song titles are inspired by New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s remarks in the wake of Donald Trump proclaiming “long live the king” alongside a photograph of himself in a crown. | EP | Wichita | Kansas | USA | LINK |
Geoff Gyllenhaal | Punk | I made something reminiscent of UK post punk. It started as hyperpop production and the mangling the audio left me with a texture that inspired this sound | Single | Los Angeles | California | USA | LINK |
Get Well Now | Indie | Our band has been playing these originals live since the start of winter, and we're so excited to finally record them. We booked studio time on Feb 1st and spent the whole day tracking everything. It was such a fun collaborative process and we're excited to share our first EP with the world! | EP | Madison | Wisconsin | USA | LINK |
Gliftor Draken | Experimental | It was all made in Reaper with instrument VSTs. The only real instruments used were electric guitar on several tracks and modular synthesizer on "Off The Rails". | Album | Lowertown | Minnesota | USA | LINK |
Gobtronic Noise Lab | Ambient | Original intention was to complete a full album, but even as many songs were recorded, they were missing the mark except for this one. It was a cold, rainy day and it started with a field recording of that rain falling that inspired this. Not an original concept, but I wanted to capture the somber and otherwise quite time. | Single | San Francisco | California | USA | LINK |
Goldparalax | Electronic | Track came to me early this year and had a ton of fun making it! | Single | Glen Cove | New York | USA | LINK |
Guy Capecelatro III | Indie | I made 8 records this time around. A wide range of things. | Album | kittery | Maine | USA | LINK |
Guy Capecelatro III | Singer-Songwriter | This was done by myself, live in the attic. | Album | Kittery | Maine | USA | LINK |
Guy Capecelatro III | Synth | This is a soundtrack to the movie of my life. | Album | Kittery | Maine | USA | LINK |
Hokey | Electronic | Hurt my knee doing this but was able to complete it. Last year I was jobless and this year I took the experience and made things better, learning new things and starting to find a sound. | Album | Austin | Texas | USA | LINK |
Holy Mountains | Indie | I intended to make a 10 track electronic album, instead got derailed by real life stuff and made a single, guitar-based song instead. Maybe next year I'll really go electronic... | Single | Los Angeles | California | USA | LINK |
Humans | Rock | We metabolized experience so fast; we had to take a snapshot just to recall whether or not we ever even did it at all. But then one day we woke and everything had changed. We knew what we wanted | EP | poughkeepsie | New York | USA | LINK |
I Saw Movement | Indie | This challenge was a great reason to get this batch of songs to the finish line. This EP was written and recorded at home; mixed and mastered by East/Mid-West Audio. | EP | Glassboro | New Jersey | USA | LINK |
Ian Wilson Ross | Singer-Songwriter | I took some words that I wrote after my dad died, and recorded a little song skeleton on cassetter 4 track. | Single | Providence | Rhode Island | USA | LINK |
ICCCP | Noise | plugged some things in, and then i unplugged some things | EP | St. Clair Shores | Michigan | USA | LINK |
Ike Shark | Indie | Made with Garageband, HX Native, Red Panda Raster, and guitars. | EP | Baltimore | Maryland | USA | LINK |
Indestination | Rock | I started out wanting to make a chill record with drum machines and surf guitar. I ended up in a dystopian nightmare of synths, distortion and an unshakeable feeling of dread. | Album | Waltham | Massachusetts | USA | LINK |
ISPIR | Experimental | Insects and rodents | Album | San Francisco | California | USA | LINK |
Jack Ayers | Indie | was hoping I could make a full ep but I only got to two of the tracks. Fortunately, they're both rather good, so I'm overall satisfied. Washington is a very ambient folk song whose instrumental is mostly improvised. Ink has a much more solid beat, but I'd struggle to call it very energetic. | Single | USA | LINK
Jacob Barton | Ambient | A collection of tracks involving the udderbot, my invention of an instrument. Mostly improvised, off-the-cuff, capricious. | Album | Virginia Beach | Virginia | USA | LINK |
Jade Dream | Synth | A collection of synth pop tracks that were really fun to make. My first time doing the RPM challenge. | EP | USA | LINK |
